Live admin desktop + untrusted SSL certificate

how do i go ahead and have the desktop client trust the ssl certificate of my server? i tried trusting it in safari and "remember my choice" so it won't ask again, and safari is doing great. so is firefox.

but whenever i try connecting with the desktop client, it just allows me to see the certificate or cancel, no "continue anyway" option...
